Golden Rishta is Pakistan’s first ultra-private matchmaking office. In South Punjab, land is usually held jointly and across generations, which means a marriage raises questions of property, biradari standing and family obligation alongside everything else. We establish those before an introduction is made, because they are rarely discussed early and almost always matter later.
Our office is in Lahore, and consultations for Multan families are held by video or phone call at a time that suits you. Every introduction is personally reviewed by a consultant before any family is approached. No public profiles. No directories. District and biradari communities are small, long-memoried and interconnected. A proposal that travels through shared contacts and is then refused does not simply end — it is recalled at gatherings for years, and occasionally between families who must go on dealing with one another over land and water. Keeping a search off that network is not only privacy. It is what allows a family to say no without it costing them something.
A great many established Multan families now have sons and daughters settled in Lahore, Karachi, the UK or the Gulf while the land and the family remain here. That raises a question worth settling early rather than late: whether the couple would be expected to return, and what either family assumes about it.
We ask about inheritance and residence at the outset, privately with each side. Yes, and it is common here — the children go to the city or abroad while the land stays. Whether they are in the UK, USA, UAE or Canada, checks are carried out on the ground in Pakistan, and we raise the question of whether they would ever return early rather than late.
